We’ve had to make major adjustments because of social distancing and stay-at-home measures. Birthday parties won’t be the same, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t have a good time.

Here are some ideas for how we can celebrate our little ones’ birthdays during quarantine.

1. Plan it around an activity

What activities can your family and toddler do together? Arts and crafts, games, or baking? Maybe dancing or playing music? Whatever it is, you can make it the center of your celebration.

2. Help out or donate to a good cause

For some, birthdays and special occasions are a time to be grateful for life’s blessings… and a time to give back. Find an organization whose advocacy resonates with you and figure out ways to help out.

3. Cherish time with family

This pandemic has caused some of us into less than ideal situations such as separation from loved ones. If you have the chance to reunite with family for this special occasion, cherish the time you have together and enjoy the simple things -- things like favorite meals and togetherness.

4. Get crafty and do DIY decorations!

If you’re a crafty momma (or if you’re up to the challenge), pick a theme, make a board in Pinterest for all your party pegs, and start creating! There is a sense of satisfaction in going through all the hard work and seeing your vision come to reality. Whatever comes out of it, be proud!

5. Shop for decorations online

Ahhh, online shopping. So convenient. So many many options to choose from, with plenty of good deals. See something you REALLY like? I-Add to cart na yan!

6. Get a customized cake or cake topper

Oh the joy that a birthday cake brings! You could get a customized design or simply add a topper according to something your toddler likes - a cartoon character, objects, their favorite activity, or their beautiful name.

7. Celebrate with friends

Gone are the days of playdates and kids all gathered around the birthday celebrant (for now). You could host a live streaming OR you could gather ‘round all your toddler’s toys as the audience.

How about you, mommy?

How did you celebrate your little one's birthday during quarantine?

Simple or grand, themed or not, DIY or store-bought, whether there's 2 people in attendance or 200 (face-to-face or online), what makes a day "special" is different for every one of us.

However you chose to spend it, we celebrate your little one's precious milestone! Happy birthday!!!
